Marvs Eastern Europe Tour

IF YOU ENJOYED THE VIDEO PLEASE ALSO READ THE ARTICLE TO THE TRIP BELOW!

It all started with an email to the german railway company “Deutsche Bahn” if they wanted to support us on a railway-roadtrip through eastern europe. Somehow they actually said yes and so, a little while later, Fabian Lang, Ben Dillinger, Sandro Trovato, Thomas Janka, Conny Mirbach, Adrian Kuchenreuther and Thomas Rentschler met in Munich and  took a night train to Zagreb.

Munich to Zagreb takes about 9 hours – so booking a sleeping wagon would be kind of smart. We passed, cause we’re men (and broke) so we slept on the seats, with not much space and most of us had sore necks the next morning.

We stayed for 2 nights, almost got in a fight with the hostel personal (why is it forbidden to move the matresses anyway?) and temperatures were always around 28°-33°. We haven’t had much problems finding the spots, but in 90% we got kicked out right away in the first 5 minutes- mostly we just stayed and nothing happened. This kept happening during the whole trip.

Unfortunately we had a hard time getting tricks in Zagreb… We found the best spots on the last day and had no time to skate them. So Tommy, Sandro and Thomas went back to Zagreb at the end of the trip- but thats another story.

We left Zagreb and headed on to Bucharest, which meant a 23hour trainride. The route included a stopover in Budapest and there we finally booked a sleeping wagon. We squeezed together to fit 7 people into 6 beds and 1 luggage rack. Also not very comfortable but we got some sleep.

Bucharest was awesome. To give you some background information: Bucharest has about 2 milion inhabitants and is the 6th biggest city in the EU. We haven’t had any spots, spotguides or contacts when we arrived but just one visit at the local skatepark and that was all taken care of. Because as soon as we arrived there, the locals asked us, if we “are the german guys”. Somehow they heard of us and  spend the next two days, showing us skatespots, kebap places, traditional restaurants and their apartments. We had a great time. Big big thanks to Gabi, Mario and Marius from the Eroilor Mafia!

Explaning all that happened in Bucharest would be far too much, but it will definetly be in the bonus edit of our DVD.

Constanta is a small town at the east end of Romania, it is along  the shore of the black sea and was our next target. The 3 hour trainride felt like a 5minute Busride for us and so we were fit enough to check out the town for spots, some good food and a first visit at the beach, after we arrived.

Unfortunately the hostel owner forgot about our reservation and so all rooms were already taken. He offered us a small room in the basement, with absolutely nothing in it. We had the choice to either take it, or sleep on the street and get eaten by all the alley cats – so we squeezed together again… At least it was cheap.

Although we haven’t had a spotguide again, we found really good spots right away and got some really good shots in constanta. One thing we forgot to mention before: The girls in eastern europe! They were already hot in Zagreb and Bucharest but at that beach in Constanta… oh weeeeh!!! But somehow they didn’t feel attracted to those 7 guys with white legs and massive sunburns.

The last stop of our trip was Budapest. With Thomas Janka being born over there, speaking fluid hungarian and having friends in town it was the most chilled out stop. We messed up something with our hostel reservation, which should not be that big of a problem normally. But as always, normally doesn’t count for us. Exactly in that week, Europe’s biggest electro festival was held in Budapest. The hostel (and the 15 others we called) were completely booked out. Luckily Thomas’ friends had some space left in their apartments. Furthermore we lived together with the original Whiskas (cat food) comercial cat and his owner.

After that problem was solved, we had a nice time in Budapest- which is an amazingly beautiful city by the way.

When Conny, Fabi, Ben and Adri booked the reservations for the train back to munich, Tommy, Sandro and Thomas decided to go back to Zagreb to get some more shots. They were supposed to be not very lucky, but that’s a different story ;) Just get the DVD when it’s out.

We want to thank all of the people who helped us making this trip possible! The Deutsche Bahn, NK23 and of course all of our other sponsors WeSc, Arnette, DC and Zimtstern!

CHEERS!
